In the next few months there are lots of holidays coming up. I know that many of you are already thinking of decorations and planning greeting cards. So I have set up posts to be posted automatically on certain days. You will have something to look forward too each week. Mondays will be a day for Christmas cards and images. Wednesday will be dedicated to Halloween. In November Thursdays will be for Thanksgiving. There will be more each week as the holiday gets closer.
Today's images are from antique postcards. From approximately 1880 to 1900.I have selected ones that feature Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus. The stores put out their Christmas merchandise so early each year. Now I am starting in September?!
Much love to you all, Louise

Cute elf with mail, wreath, Christmas tree, beautiful frames for scrap booking and altered art. All free clip art.

Welcome to all the many new and returning friends. Glad you have come for a visit.
Yesterday I went to Healdsburg, California. Healdsburg has a traditional downtown square edged by stores and businesses. In the middle of wine country it has evolved into a very trendy place. Wonderful shops, bookstores and cafes. The little fabric store is stocked with exquisite fabric some rarely seen in chain stores. The Swiss eyelet trim was so fine it looked handmade. I spent at least an hour if not more slowly looking at every bolt.Healdsburg Sonoma County CA - Plaza Street
These are photos from the web as I did not have a camera with me. Next time I will  take pictures inside some shops that you would just love.
I really needed to get out of the house and visit with a dear friend.
A while ago I posted an antique marriage certificate. I have since learned how to straighten, crop and paint an image. So here it is again. It is so beautiful!

Another frame from a 1850's invitation

Victorian era lady of luxury. What an incredible dress. How did the artist recreate that silk?

Cute little fairies or elf's delivering mail. It is always nice to go to the mail box and find a beautiful card or cheery note from a friend. From a very old book.

I think this is a Santa on a horse. It is from inside a vintage 1920's greeting card.

The following images are taken from a 1907 edition of Theodore Storm's book " Immensee" The book has an Art Nouveau  and Arts & Crafts era  look.  There are many more woodblock images from each chapter plus 9 illustrations similar to the oval one. They will be posted in the future.

I still want to post some old photographs later this evening. Well it is time to tend to other things(like hot chocolate) for a while. Much love Louise

Antique Christmas Postcard, Vintage 1930 Photograph Little Girl with a Doll & Buggy,Frame & Children's Book Illustration Free for you to use.

Another day, another post of yummy images.
Today the secretary(me) will be doing some much needed filing. My scans are all over my computer in various folders. Some make sense and are perfectly organized. Others are "what are you doing over here or there!?)
First thing in the morning and the last thing at night I am blogging! What has happened to me! Blogging is so addicting. Wonderful comments and incredible blogs out there are quite a delightful distraction.  Teri Gordon stopped by and be sure and visit her lovely blog. It is full of very creative lace crowns.
The sun has been hiding behind the grey clouds for days and is expected to stay there. There are so many little treasures that need sun to be photographed. A little frustrating but I still love working with all my scanned images.
Looking at this picture from "Good morning dear children" feels so light and cheery and always puts a smile on my face. Instant art for a little ones room or a greeting card to lift someones spirits.
Demure portrait of a lady.

A yellowy ( I make up words!) frame for surrounding a loved ones picture.

This is an antique postcard from my family.
My aunt is obviously posing for my grandfather. It was a set up but so cute. I love the shadow of papa's hat!

There is something very satisfying about posting antique photographs, vintage postcards and illustrations from old books. I wonder what you are making and crafting from them. Has anyone used them in an ATC? I find them very fascinating. And the beautiful altered art, how could I not enjoy posting all the free pictures for you to click and clip into your creations.
Much love to you all, Louise
